Amoebas Realm: Installation Series
ORIGIN
The beginning of the end is also the origin of understanding.
-
Serving as the point of origin for the Amoebas Realm narrative, this installation presents a series of suspended hammers hanging above Petri dishes in which different stages of amoebic evolution are cultivated. From mitosis to stagnation, each stage exists beneath an aging hammer held only by fragile paper ropes, evoking the Sword of Damocles and the ever-present possibility of collapse.
The work explores the precarious nature of growth, knowledge, and civilization, where every achievement remains vulnerable to forces beyond its control. As visitors move through the installation, the suspended hammers often provoke an impulse to intervene, revealing a distinctly human desire to influence, alter, or even destroy systems larger than ourselves.

Logbook of a Scientist No.1062
I have developed a new kind of organism, created to help heal the planet we have weakened over generations through misunderstanding. These are my versions; other researchers have made their own iterations (some, as I’ve heard, rather aggressive), but I consider these the first true success.
A genetic modification of Euglypha rotonda, a bigger version of a testate amoeba known for its delicate silica shell, their genome was altered to consume materials beyond silica, their original diet. Yet they have retained their remarkable ability to build shells, like slimes clad in scales. This species may hold the key to restoring fertility to our soils. Still, a few have begun to behave in unexpected ways. I will need to understand them.
A wooden structure with five suspended wooden sticks or rods hanging from a horizontal beam. The structure is supported by four vertical wooden beams and is set on a base made of stone blocks. There is a wall in the background with informational text and a small, red, heart-shaped object attached to the wall.
A small glass bowl filled with green, shiny, seashell-shaped decorative stones placed on a granite countertop with a hammer positioned above it.
Three pendulums hanging from cords, each with a stone base. The middle pendulum has a metal weight at the bottom. The pendulums are suspended above small glass containers filled with colorful objects, all displayed on a wooden surface.
Close-up of small glass petri dishes filled with shiny, colorful, circular objects, placed on rough-textured granite stones.
Close-up view of a row of small glass bowls on a irregularly shaped, multicolored stone surface, with a focus on a metal axe mounted on the stone. The bowls contain colorful decorative items, possibly beads or stones.
Colorful flower-shaped beads in a glass container placed on a granite rock surface.
A glass bowl filled with red metallic flower-shaped sequins, placed on a granite countertop with more granite and a wooden surface in the background.
A glass jar filled with shiny blue sequins placed on a granite countertop with a hammer nearby.
An art installation featuring a wooden frame with strings and hanging nails above rocks with glass jars, presented in a gallery with a gray wall and wooden floor.
